APPLICATION | To apply to our program, please follow these 4 easy steps: |

2. Attach |
a) Full DEGREE TRANSCRIPT.
If you hold a degree issued by an Italian university, send us your full
degree transcript ("certificato di laurea con esami"). If you are
currently enrolled at an Italian university and plan to graduate by October 2016, please send us your "certificato di iscrizione
universitaria con esami sostenuti". If you are a graduate of, or
currently enrolled at, an Italian university you may now skip to
sub-section b).
If you hold a degree issued by a university outside Italy, please send us:
i. a copy of your original degree transcript. If you are a graduating
student, send us a letter IN ENGLISH from an official at your university,
written on University letterhead, stating the exact title and duration of
your degree program, and indicating your expected date of graduation.
ii. An official translation into Italian of your degree transcript,
legalized by an Italian consulate in the country in which the degree was
issued (official title of legalized degree is "Dichiarazione di Valore";
see "Foreign Degrees Legalization Requirements" below for full details).
Alternatively, you may submit a FULL English language translation of your
original degree. Please understand, however, that an English language
translation of your degree may only be used for the purposes of ADMISSION
to the program, whereas consular certification will in any case be
required for ENROLMENT at the University of Torino, if admitted to the program (see "Foreign Degrees Legalization Requirements",
below). The Admissions Committee reserves the right to request a legalized
degree transcript ("Certificato di Valore") for application purposes also.
PLEASE NOTICE: Degree transcripts and translations should indicate the
TITLE of the university degree held by the applicant, the DURATION of the
degree course and student's GPA (grade point average).
b) A DETAILED CV, emphasizing academic and professional achievements and
qualifications (we recommend the Europass CV format).
c) A PERSONAL STATEMENT, summarizing any previous academic and
professional experiences, as well as indicating personal goals,
motivations and expectations in applying for an MA in American Studies at
the University of Torino. The letter should include TITLE and ABSTRACT IN
ENGLISH of your degree thesis (if applicable).
d) One passport-size PHOTO
e) One LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION (optional). The letter, emphasizing the
applicant's qualification and potential to succeed in an MA program,
should be written by academic staff only and sealed in an envelope.
Alternatively, the letter may be emailed by the recommending faculty to
masteramericanstudies@unito.it from an academic email account. Applicants holding a degree in Foreign Languages from the University of
Torino need NOT provide letters of recommendation.
f) ENGLISH LANGUAGE CERTIFICATION (see "Admission" page for full
details of our language certification requirements):

Do not forget to keep a full backup copy of your application, in the event
of a problem with your shipment

NOTIFICATION OF ADMISSION |
The MA board evaluates
applications and announces admissions on a rolling basis, beginning in April.
When accepted, students are notified by email promptly and begin
the enrollment process in September.
Because of the summer recess, applications received in August take longer to process. Please expect at least 3 weeks before you hear
from us if you apply or send an inquiry in August. Our offices are closed
from August 4 through August 26.

VISAS FOR NON-EU STUDENTS |
If accepted, non-EU students will need to seek enrollment at the
University of Torino through their nearest Italian Consulate before
traveling to Italy. This process may take up to two months (see below for
details)). For exact processing time, please check with your nearest
Italian consulate. Unless they already legally reside in the EU, non-EU
nationals without a valid study visa will not be able to enroll in the
program.

FOREIGN DEGREES LEGALIZATION REQUIREMENT |
Applicants holding a degree
issued by a foreign university will need to provide official legalization
(known as "Dichiarazione di valore in loco" or DV) of their degree for
enrollment at the university of Torino. DV is obtained through Italian
consular authorities in the country where the degree was issued. Please
notice: DV is a consular procedure and may under no circumstances be
obtained in Italy.
